Budds Creek MD, (10/4/24)- Waldorf Maryland’s Kenny Moreland got the season ending Southern Maryland National started on Friday with a win in the 25 lap “Bobbi Jo Andrews Memorial” Limited Late Model feature. The win for Moreland, worth $2000, came aboard his Rocket No.24 and would be his 3rd overall Potomac feature win of the season.
Moreland earned the pole for the start of the event and that was all he needed as he would go on to dominate all 25-laps as he would score the win over eventual runner-up Kyle Hardy. “We qualified decent tonight and when we have a 16 second track, I knew we would be pretty good tonight.” Kenny stated in victory lane about the 525 Crate power plant bolted in his car. “We’ve had a good season this year and it’s a good way to get the weekend started especially with this being the Hollidge’s last race.” 2024 track champion Kyle Lear, 10th starting Justin Williams and Jeremy Pilkerton would trail at the finish. Scoring heat race victories over the 32 cars entered went to Moreland, Hardy, Keith Jackson and Derick Quade with George Dixon Jr taking the B main win.
Justin Hatcher took the lead from Kelly Crouse on the 8th lap and went on to score the win in the 15 lap strictly stock feature. Crouse, Greg Mattingly, Ricky Sexton and John Hardesty would complete the top five.
Brooke Bowles took the lead on the first lap and would drive off uncontested to score her 2nd win of the season in the 15 lap U Car feature. Track champion Faith Lacey, Shawn Payne, Joey Suite and Larry Lamb would round out the top five.
