“Lear Scores Limited Late Model Victory in Flag to Flag Potomac Effort”

“Hanson Strikes Again in Street Stocks”

By Doug Watson

Budds Creek, MD (8/23/24)- Severna Park Md’s Kyle Lear drove to his second win of the season in Friday nights 20-lap Limited Late Model feature at Potomac Speedway. The win for Lear, came steering his Ray Ciccarelli owned Rocket No.151, and would be his 29th career victory at the venerable Southern Maryland oval.
Lear burst into the race lead from his second starting spot on the first lap and would eventually lead the distance, but it was by far not an easy trip to victory lane. Eventual runner-up Kenny Moreland shadowed Lear for the duration, pulling alongside Lear on multiple occasions, but could not make the winning pass and would settle for a hard fought second place finish. “We all got the news that Ronnie and Denise wouldn’t be back for the 2025 season and I just want to thank them personally for giving us a great place to race for all the time that they were there.” Lear stated post race. “We have a great group of people behind us that work hard and give me what I need to win.” 14th starting Dale Hollidge was strong in third with Jonathan Raley and Doug Penny completing the top five. Heats went to Kenny Moreland and Sam Archer.
Defending track champion Wyatt Hanson collected his 4th win of season in the 15-lap Street Stock feature over PJ Hatcher, Scotty Nelson, Kyle Nelson and 12th starting Gerald Shannon. Heats went to Hanson and Scotty Nelson.
In the 15-lap Hobby Stock main Mason Hanson rolled to his 4th win of 2024 over Watson Gordon, Ralph Price, Colin Long and 15th starting Mikey Latham. Heats went to Hanson and Tommy Dennison.
Former track champion Justin Knight made his first start of the season a good one as he took the win in the 15-lap UCar contest with Faith Lacey, Travis Dye, Keith Brown and Austin Crouse trailing at the finish. Heats went to Knight and Brooke Bowles.
Nabil Guffey kept his dream season going as he posted his 7th win of the season in the 15-lap Strictly Stock feature. Jayden Hatcher, Larry Fuchs, John Hardesty and James Stone Jr. rounded out the top five. Heats went to Justin Hatcher and James Stone Jr.
