“Lathroum Prevails for Third Potomac Late Model Win”
“Gunter, Marshall, Imler Claim Track Titles”
By Doug Watson
Budds Creek, MD- Mechanicsville Maryland’s Jamie “The Jet” Lathroum collected his third late model feature win of the season last Friday night at the Potomac speedway.

Harold Dorsey Jr. and Bo Feathers brought the field to the start of the 30-lap main event. Feathers quickly shot into the lead by the completion of the races first circuit. As Feathers lead, fourth starting Lathroum was up to second by the fifth lap. Feathers and Lathroum would then race side by side over the next fourteen laps before Lathroum would snare the top-spot for good on lap nineteen. From that point on Lathroum would race unchallenged to post his seventh career Potomac late model feature win.

“The track was the best it’s been all season.” Lathroum stated. “The car was working really good tonight and with the track having two grooves tonight it was a lot of fun.” Lathroum’s mid-race duel with Bo Feathers had the fans on their feet. “Yeah I knew Bo would race me clean so I raced him the same way and I just hope we put on a good show for the fans.” David Williams rallied late for second, Bo Feathers too third, Andy Anderson was fourth and Dale Hollidge completed the top five. Heats for the 15 late models on hand went to Feathers and Williams.

In the 25-lap limited late model feature, PJ Hatcher lead every lap to score his first career win in the division. Sommey Lacey was second, Stevie Long took third, Mike Latham scored fourth and point-leader Tommy Wagner Jr. filled the front five. Heats for the 15-car field went to Stevie Long and Derrick Quade.

Elsewhere, Walt Homberg scored win number three in the 16-lap street stock feature, Josh Dotson and Joe Ender split twin 15-lap hobby stock features, Greg Gunter rolled to win number 7 and the 2009 track title in the 15-lap four-cylinder main while Darin Henderson took his third feature win of the season in the 15-lap crate LM/ modified headliner with James Marshall (Modified) and John Imler (crate LM) garnering divisional track championships.
